CATCH UP ON WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH OUR MEMBERS!
New baby!
Congratulations to Clare Heins and her husband Stefan on the birth of their second child, Lukas on 3rd November 2010. A little brother for their daughter, Francesca.
Life Membership appointments
We were delighted to award Life Membership in April 2010 to two of our long‑serving, hard-working members, Clare Heins and John Whelpton.
Clare it can be said has ‘grown up’ with Encore since joining in 1993. On stage she has portrayed a variety of principal roles in shows and pantomimes and has also made a significant contribution through her involvement on the Committee. We are very lucky that Clare has now become our Secretary, a role which I am sure she will perform with her usual commitment and enthusiasm.
John is one of our longest serving members, having joined us in 1985. Since that time he’s appeared on stage in our shows, cabarets and pantomimes in chorus and principal roles and in recent years has put his expertise to co-ordinating the technical side and stage managing our productions, something he really enjoys. John also has many years of service on committee, most recently as our Vice President / Chairman.
Members Rewarded for Long Service
In the summer of 2008 a number of members were presented with long service
awards on behalf of NODA (National Operatic & Dramatic Association)
for service to amateur theatre:
Catherine Pidd (35 years)
Sue Sheppard (25 years)
Carole Whelpton (25 years)
In addition the following young people received a youth award for their service to date: Tom Bucktrout (6 years); Sammi Smith (6 years); Nicole Walton (6 years); Jacob Bucktrout (4 years); Ben Evans (4 years)
Congratulation to all our recipients and we hope they will continue to enjoy their involvement with Encore for many more years!
Paul Barron
Paul has been a member of Encore for 7 years and in this time has proved to be a tremendous asset to our Company. As well as appearing on stage in principal roles and more recently as an active member of our committee, Paul has successfully written and directed four pantomime productions on our behalf which we have been proud to stage as “premieres”: Once Upon A Time (2006); A Long Time Ago (2007); Happily Ever After (2008) and The Good the Bad and the Panto (2009). Paul is now having further success with his pantomime scripts which are available on licence for performance by other theatre groups.

Wedding Congratulations!
Congratulations to Clare and Stefan on their wedding in August 2008. Clare
Heins (nee Jaggar) is Assistant Secretary for Encore and has been a member
of the Company for 15 years.
Congratulations also to Mr & Mrs Allison on their marriage in April 2009. Jane (nee Riley) and David are both active members of Encore and Jane is the long-serving Honorary Secretary for our Company.
Engagement
Sarah Crowley, Encore’s Musical Director, has recently announced
her engagement to Nick – many congratulations to you both.
Congratulations also to Paul Barron and his fiancée Sue, on their engagement in 2009 and we send our very best wishes for their wedding in 2011
Anniversary!
Jo & John Bevitt celebrate their Pearl Wedding Anniversary in April 2010. Jo and John no longer share the limelight on stage with us, but provide tremendous support at rehearsals and our fundraising activities.
New Baby!
Many congratulations to Trevor Jones and his wife Sarah on the birth of their new baby boy, Iwan Carpenter Jones on 3 July 2010. We missed Trevor during our production of The Wizard of Oz, when he took time out to prepare for life as a Dad, and we look forward to welcoming him back on stage soon.
